Good morning, W.Y.R. neighbors! This weekend is stacked! Big summer week ahead, and it is going to be a hot one. Rolesville throws its signature fourth-Friday street party, Mingle on Main, with food, shops, and live music downtown, while Youngsville’s HomeSlice Tavern hosts its 3rd Annual Block Party with RadioStar on Saturday. Wake Forest starts the countdown to the nation’s 250th birthday with novelist Stephanie Dray at Page 158 and America’s Sweethearts at the Renaissance Centre, and the Listening Room runs two seated shows back to back.

🏆 In Case You Missed It: The Cup Came Home

We are still riding the high, and we are not apologizing for it. Last Saturday, tens of thousands of fans flooded downtown Raleigh in a sea of red to watch the Carolina Hurricanes roll through with the Stanley Cup, the franchise’s first since 2006. Players hoisted the Cup over the crowd, the city declared it Carolina Hurricanes Day, and for one afternoon, the whole Triangle felt like one big block party. If you were there, you know. If you missed it, the photos say it all. What a time to be a Caniac.

Rolesville’s signature fourth-Friday street party is back. Mingle on Main turns downtown into a walkable summer evening of pop-up shops, local makers, food, drinks, and live music, plus a free raffle with prizes worth more than $750. It is the Town and the Chamber’s monthly excuse to get everyone outside, and it is free to wander in. Go hungry, bring the kids, and stick around for the band.

Youngsville’s downtown tavern throws its biggest party of the year on Saturday afternoon. RadioStar brings a high-energy cover set that runs from ’80s MTV hits straight through to today, and HomeSlice turns its block into a full-on party. Get there early for a good spot.

🏊 Beat the Heat at Holding Park: World’s Largest Swimming Lesson and a Dive-In Movie 📍 Holding Park Aquatic Center, 133 W Owen Ave, Wake Forest | Thursday, June 25 and Saturday, June 27 | free to $7

With the week climbing toward 100 degrees, the town pool is exactly where you want to be. Thursday, Holding Park hosts the 17th annual World’s Largest Swimming Lesson, a free, record-setting water-safety event with sessions grouped by age throughout the day (register first at the Town’s RecDesk).

Free 30-minute swimming lesson sessions are scheduled throughout the day for the following age categories: 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, 13-17, and 18 and older.

Then Saturday night, the pool becomes a float-in theater for a Dive-In Movie showing of Pixar’s “Elemental,” gates at 8 PM and showtime around 8:30. Tickets are $7 a person, sold through June 27, with concessions on site. It is the most family-friendly way to ride out the heat wave.

🇺🇸 Wake Forest Counts Down to America’s 250th 📍 Page 158 Books and the Renaissance Centre, Wake Forest | Monday, June 29 and Wednesday, July 1 | FREE and ticketed

The nation’s 250th birthday is a week away, and Wake Forest is easing into it. On Monday, bestselling novelist Stephanie Dray visits Page 158 Books at 6 PM to talk about “A Founding Mother: A Novel of Abigail Adams,” a timely look at one of the Revolution’s sharpest voices.
