Have you ever thought to yourself “It’s Wednesday” when it’s really Thursday? Well that happened to me yesterday, so you're getting this on a Friday this week. We'll be back in your inbox next week on Thursday. Just before lunch like always.
Happy Friday, W.Y.R. neighbors!
Get out tonight, because the weather flips tomorrow. Friday is warm and dry: Rolesville rolls out a free Zootopia 2 screening at Mill Bridge, Chatham County Line plays the Lonerider yard, and Hill Ridge Farms keeps the patch open late. Saturday brings a cold rain, but downtown Wake Forest still throws the Halloween Boo Bash in the morning, Bud's pours bottomless Oktoberfest drafts with Tripwire on stage, and Youngsville's Yacht Club celebrates eight years with Kaya's Embrace on stage. Sunday clears out just in time for Grace Haven's HarvestFest in Youngsville and a sunny day at the NC State Fair. Weather note: 88 today, then mid-50s and rainy Saturday, then sunny and crisp the rest of the week.
In today's edition of The WYRe:
Saturday downtown: the Halloween Boo Bash and trick-or-treating at local shops
Rolesville news: goodbye Greenway, hello Rolesville Dairy Co.
Youngsville's big weekend: Oktoberfest at Bud's, Yacht Club turns 8, and HarvestFest
Rolesville tonight: free Zootopia 2 under the stars at Mill Bridge
Weather for the week, sports, live music, and more!
Let's get to it.
Dave & Egle
THE DIGEST

🎃 Halloween Boo Bash and Goodies for Goblins
📍 Downtown Wake Forest | Saturday, October 17 | 10 AM to 1 PM | Free, ages 12 and under
Downtown turns into a costume parade Saturday morning: inflatables, a DJ, carnival games, sponsor booths and a food truck lineup that includes Cartel Tacos, The Flat Drum, Buoy Bowls, Mama Birds and Sweet Treat Express. At the same time, downtown shops hand out candy for Goodies for Goblins, so the kids can trick-or-treat at participating shops (S. White St stays open to traffic, so stick to the sidewalks). Free parking is at the Center for Active Aging, the seminary lots and Wake Electric. Heads up: rain is likely Saturday and the Town says the event isn't necessarily rain or shine, so check the link before you head out.

🍦 Goodbye Greenway, Hello Rolesville Dairy Co.
📍 Greenway Beer & Wine, 519 S Main St, Rolesville | Last Call: Saturday, October 24 | 2 to 6 PM | Free to attend
After more than seven years of pints, food trucks and Friday trivia, Greenway Beer & Wine is closing its Rolesville taproom on Saturday, October 24 (the Raleigh shop stays open). The good news is the space stays local. Rolesville Dairy Co., a family-owned ice cream, candy and gift shop run by Rolesville neighbors, is moving in, and they want to keep that big backyard a place where families hang out and kids run around. Their plans so far: a Christmas tree lot and holiday market opening Black Friday, a spot in the December 6 Christmas parade, free photos with Santa on December 13, and the ice cream and candy shop opening after the new year, with allergen-friendly options and a little beer and wine. Go say goodbye (and hello) at Greenway's Last Call on the 24th: Mr. Cheese Steak (2 to 6), DJ Cullen James (2 to 4), Jeremy Burns (4 to 6), plus free ice cream and gifts for the kids from Dairy Co. while supplies last. And tonight's Hammered Trivia is one of your last Friday nights at Greenway.

🎬 Movies at Mill Bridge: Zootopia 2
📍 Mill Bridge Nature Park Amphitheatre, 425 Nature Park Dr, Rolesville | Friday, October 16 | 7 PM | Free
Rolesville's rescheduled movie night lands on the warmest evening of the week. Bring a blanket or a camp chair, grab a Kona Ice, and settle in for Zootopia 2 (PG) on the big screen at the amphitheatre. Rain doesn't move in until late tonight, so this is the outdoor plan of the weekend. Save the date for the season finale too: Beetlejuice on Friday, October 30.

🌾 Grace Haven HarvestFest
📍 Grace Haven Baptist Fellowship, 726 Hicks Rd, Youngsville | Sunday, October 18 | 3 to 6 PM | BBQ fundraiser
Grace Haven's annual HarvestFest is Youngsville's best family pick of the weekend, and it falls on the sunny side of the forecast. Expect trunk-or-treat, hayrides, a maze, a scarecrow contest, games and a bonfire, plus a BBQ fundraiser for dinner. Costumes are welcome, so give the kids a second chance at the outfit they didn't get to wear Saturday.

🎡 Worth the Drive: The NC State Fair
📍 NC State Fairgrounds, 1025 Blue Ridge Rd, Raleigh | Through Sunday, October 25 | 9 AM to 11 PM daily (11:30 PM Fri and Sat), no entry after 9:45 PM | See link for tickets
The fair is in full swing, and Sunday is the day to go: sunny, cool, and the fair's Sensory Day (no flashing lights or loud music until 1 PM). Seniors 65 and up get in free Tuesday, and military and veterans plus three guests get in free Wednesday. Advance tickets are gone, so buy at the gate or online.
