Good morning, W.Y.R. neighbors! Big summer kickoff week ahead: the Canes are in the Stanley Cup Final, downtown Wake Forest gets a full Saturday of cars, steak, food trucks, and local fundraising, Joyner Park hosts the National Trails Day 5K/3K, Rolesville stacks a 5K, farmers market, and wellness expo into one Saturday morning. If you want a bigger Raleigh plan, the International Food Festival takes over City Plaza Saturday with food from around the world. The weather looks hot and mostly dry through the weekend, so go early, bring water, and save the playoff nerves for 8 PM.

In today’s edition of The WYRe:

  • The Canes try to even the Stanley Cup Final at Lenovo Center

  • Cars & Carnivores and National Trails Day give Wake Forest a huge Saturday

  • Rolesville’s farmers market, 5K, and wellness expo share the Cobblestone morning

  • Weather for the week, sports, live music, and more!

Let's get to it.

THE DIGEST

🏒 Stanley Cup Final: Canes vs. Golden Knights
📍 Lenovo Center and ABC | Thursday, June 4, Saturday, June 6, and Tuesday, June 9 | 8 PM | ticketed / TV

The Canes are in the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2006, and this week is all hockey. Vegas stole Game 1 in Raleigh, 5-4, so Thursday night’s Game 2 at Lenovo Center is the reset button before the series heads west.

Game 3 is Saturday in Vegas, Game 4 is Tuesday in Vegas, and all games are scheduled for 8 PM on ABC. If you are not heading to Lenovo Center, White Street Brewing is listed as hosting Canes Stanley Cup Final watch parties during the coverage window.

LET’S GO CANES!

🚗 Cars & Carnivores Street Festival
📍 Downtown Wake Forest | Saturday, June 6 | 8 AM to 3 PM | FREE

Downtown Wake Forest gets one of the most fun local Saturdays of the summer with the Rotary Club’s 4th Annual Cars & Carnivores Street Festival. Expect 100+ cars, a steak cookoff, food trucks, vendors, raffles, music, and plenty of reasons to wander downtown before the heat peaks.

The cause is real, too. Proceeds support Rotary’s Medical Debt Relief initiative for local families facing cancer-related medical bills. Car show hours run 8 AM to 2 PM, the steak cookoff runs 10 AM to 5 PM, and awards follow later in the afternoon.

🏃 National Trails Day 5K/3K
📍 E. Carroll Joyner Park, 701 Harris Rd, Wake Forest | Saturday, June 6 | check-in 7 AM, race 8 AM | registration fee

If you want your Saturday to start with something healthier than steak samples, Joyner Park has you covered. Wake Forest’s National Trails Day 5K/3K is a family-friendly timed walk/run through the paved trails at Joyner Park.

Strollers and dogs are welcome, though they start at the back so runners can get a clean start. Registration is accepted on race day, and entry fees support greenway maintenance and development around Wake Forest.

💪 Rolesville Saturday: 5K, Farmers Market, and Wellness Expo
📍 Jeff’s Bagel Run and Cobblestone Village, Rolesville | Saturday, June 6 | 8 AM to 1 PM | free to attend

Rolesville has a compact Saturday morning plan. Start with the Rolesville Runs 5K at Jeff’s Bagel Run from 8 to 9 AM, then roll into Cobblestone Village for the Downtown Rolesville Farmers Market and the Healthy Rolesville Wellness Expo from 9 AM to 1 PM.

The farmers market is back in its regular Saturday slot with local vendors, produce, baked goods, crafts, and makers. The wellness expo gives the morning a practical health angle, so this is a good one-stop Rolesville outing before the afternoon heat settles in.

🍽️ Raleigh’s International Food Festival
📍 City Plaza, Raleigh | Saturday, June 6 | 11 AM to 9 PM | FREE admission

Worth the drive this week: Raleigh’s International Food Festival is back at City Plaza with food, beer, wine, music, and entertainment from around the world. Visit Raleigh lists this as the June top pick and says nearly 40,000 people are expected downtown.

This is not a quick little pop-up. Plan parking, bring patience, and go hungry. If your family likes to graze, split plates, and hear music while walking around downtown, this is the Raleigh play.
