It’s all about getting you ready for the Independence Day celebrations coming up around the WYR area.

Wake Forest is pulling out all the stops this year with a two-day Independence Day celebration. It all kicks off Thursday, July 3, at Heritage High School. Gates open at 5:30 PM, and you can settle in with your lawn chairs and blankets before The Ray Band takes the stage at 6 PM. Expect a high-energy set of Motown and rock hits. Then, around 9:30 PM, the sky will light up with a 20-minute fireworks show.

There will be tons of food trucks, concessions, and even a sensory-friendly viewing area for those who prefer a quieter space. Pro tip: parking fills up fast, so plan to carpool or use rideshares if you can.

On July 4, bring the kids to the corner of W Juniper Ave and N Main Street in Wake Forest and let them ride their bikes in the Children’s Parade at 10:30 AM (lineup begins at 10 AM). Afterwards, enjoy Art in the Park - crafts and games at the Community House from 11 AM - 1 PM.

Youngsville is throwing its annual Red, White & Boom! Independence Day Celebration on Thursday, July 3, at the Youngsville Sports Complex, and it’s shaping up to be a blast. From 5 - 9 PM, you’ll find live music from multiple bands, a huge Kids Zone with inflatables and a bubble bus, and plenty of food trucks to keep everyone happy.

The night wraps up with a fireworks finale you won’t want to miss. Remember: leave pets, coolers, and golf carts at home so everyone can enjoy safely. Bring chairs or blankets and claim your spot early. This is always a local favorite!

Rolesville is keeping the celebration going on Friday, July 4, at Redford Place Park. Things get started at 5 PM with food trucks, yard games, bounce houses, and local vendors. The Embers featuring Craig Woolard will hit the stage at 6 PM to keep the crowd dancing right up until fireworks time.

The grand finale fireworks show is planned for around 9:15 PM. Bring the family, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy a relaxed evening under the stars. Just a heads-up: some roads around the park will be closed during the event, so check traffic updates before you head out.

The Wake Forest Center for Active Aging (formerly the Northern Wake Senior Center) will officially begin operations under the Town of Wake Forest management as of July 1, 2025.

Catch a glimpse of the next generation of Canes stars! The Carolina Hurricanes Prospects Development Camp runs June 29 – July 3 at Invisalign Arena in Morrisville, with free, open-to-the-public on-ice sessions daily from June 30 – July 2.

Admission is free and doors open at 9:45 a.m., so arrive early for a good spot. It’s a perfect summer outing for hockey families to see future Canes talent up close.
