Let's get to it.

Dave & Egle

FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK

The last Monday edition of The WYRe for now

We heard your feedback that you were getting tired of the same bar and community center events during the Monday edition of this newsletter. We never want to feel like we aren’t providing you with top value with every edition, so with that, we’ll be scaling back to a weekly newsletter edition for the time being. You’ll still be getting the same great content on Thursdays, we’ll just be covering the full week, so it doesn’t feel like so much like a copy and paste on Mondays.

Thank you for the valuable feedback! We appreciate that you care enough to let us know. I hope you enjoy the rest of this edition.

THE DIGEST

Weekend Recap

Downtown Wake Forest was packed Friday night for Friday Night on White, where The Band Punch rocked the stage and families danced in the street. Food trucks lined South White Street, and local breweries served sip‑and‑stroll beers as folks enjoyed the free outdoor concert. (Missed it? The next Friday Night on White is August 8, featuring The Brickhouse Band, so mark your calendar!)

Over the weekend, Raleigh’s Summer Beats Festival also kept City Plaza hopping on Saturday with live music, a “snowball fight” zone for kids, costume contests (even a cutest dog contest), and a food truck rodeo.

Kids Summer Movies at Wakefield Cinemas Continue

Looking for free family fun on the big screen? Marquee Cinemas Wakefield 12 in North Raleigh is continuing its Kids Summer Movie Series with free showings at 9:30 AM on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. On Tuesday, July 15, and Wednesday, July 16, families can choose between two featured films: Harold and the Purple Crayon and Spider‑Man: Into the Spider‑Verse.

The summer kids’ movies run each week through mid-August, making this a great budget-friendly outing to keep the kids entertained and cool all summer.

CIVIL NEWS

Community Note – Sprayground Still Closed: If you were planning to take the kids to cool off at the Taylor Street Park Sprayground in Wake Forest, be aware it’s still temporarily closed due to an equipment malfunction that caused a water line rupture.

You can keep an ear out for any news on when it’s due to reopen here.

If your kids love the outdoors, Prairie Ridge EcoStation in West Raleigh has a fun Nature Play Day on Tuesday morning. From 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the Nature PlaySpace will be filled with fun, hands-on materials, think bubbles, costumes, fort-building kits, giant blocks, paint, and more, all to encourage creative outdoor play.

This program is free and drop-in (no registration needed), designed especially for families with young children (around ages 7 and under), though all ages are welcome to join in the outdoor fun. Come dressed for the weather (and ready to get a little messy!).
