Big music weekend ahead: Mason Via, fresh off his run with Old Crow Medicine Show, plays an intimate ticketed set at the Wake Forest Listening Room Friday night, the same evening Rolesville rolls out the projector at Mill Bridge Nature Park for a free showing of Little Giants. Youngsville’s living room is busy all weekend: Bud’s Tavern runs Tiki Night Friday, Thief of Hearts Saturday, and Uriah Nash on Sunday afternoon. If you want a big-ticket night out, Tim McGraw brings the Pawn Shop Guitar Tour to Walnut Creek Friday.
It’ll be a hot one (highs near 90 all week, low 90s by Monday) with only stray pop-up storms, so the outdoor stuff mostly gets a green light, and with the water restrictions gone you can finally hose down the patio furniture first. And pencil in next Friday now: Friday Night on White returns August 14 with The Amazing Lounge Lizards.

Mason Via spent the last few years touring the world as a member of Old Crow Medicine Show, with a Grammy nomination along the way, and now he’s on the road under his own name. Friday, he plays the Listening Room, the kind of small, quiet, all-about-the-music venue where a songwriter like this actually shines. These shows sell on intimacy, and seats are limited, so don’t sleep on tickets.

Rolesville’s outdoor movie series is back with Little Giants, the 1994 pee-wee football classic, and with real football three weeks out, the timing could not be better. Kona Ice will be on site, so come early, claim your patch of grass, and bring blankets and chairs. It stays warm after dark, and Friday’s storm chance is small, so this one sets up nicely.

Youngsville’s living room goes three for three this weekend. Friday is Tiki Night from 7 to 10 with live music and a $30 pound-of-shrimp-and-five-beers deal that feels illegal to type. Saturday, Thief of Hearts plugs in from 8 to 11. Sunday, Uriah Nash plays the afternoon shift from 2 to 5, right after you hit the farmers market at the Yacht Club from 12 to 3. Patio in play all weekend.

The biggest worth-the-drive show of the week: Tim McGraw brings three decades of hits to Walnut Creek Friday night. It’s an amphitheater show in August, so pack accordingly (lawn chair, sunscreen for the early part, and patience for the parking lots).
